Ever since it was announced in 2016 that the Percy Jackson 3 movie is not happening, fans across the globe have been enraged and have been voicing their opinion online demanding the sequel to their favorite movie series be made. The reason behind the cancellation was said to be because American television network The CW has brought the rights of the film franchise and that they are turning it into a TV series.
But, after months of speaking out at fan forums, two new petitions have been launched to make the third iteration of the movie, Percy Jackson: The Titan’s Curse. One of the petitions, which has a target of 1,500 applications, has already been successful in getting 1,200 signatures.
When the petition was made last year, it got fans excited, as it was claimed at that time that the novel would be turned into a full-length TV series. However, those speculations were soon brushed off when American author Rick Riordan dismissed all such rumors over Twitter. Riordan tweeted, “That TV show rumor is false. I have NO influence/control to make that happen.”
If Percy Jackson 3 is to happen, it is being speculated that the original cast will not reprise their roles as all of them are too old for their roles.
The film series revolves around the adventures of demigod Percy Jackson and his accomplices at the demigod training ground of Camp Half-Blood. The first film, Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lighting Thief, came out in 2010. The second film, Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters, came out in 2013. The first film was directed by Chris Columbus, while the second film was directed by Thor Freudenthal. Both the films have grossed a total of $430 million at the worldwide box office.
A total of five Percy Jackson novels have come up so far. The Lightning Thief was the first book, released in 2005. In 2006, the second book was released, The Sea Of Monsters. The third, The Titan’s Curse, came out in 2007. The fourth film, The Battle Of The Labyrinth, came out in 2008 and the fifth film, The Last Olympian, came out in 2009.
The take of 20th Century Fox regarding the third movie is yet to be heard.
